Luxetips Annual Best of (2011) List!

I am slowly working my way back into mainstream.  I have to make an appearance in the office today and of course the luxe kids won't let me be sad.  They are little rays of sunshine.

But I had to appear for my annual "Best of" List for the year 2011.  2011 was a hard year, but there were still some products that rocked my world.  This year instead of doing 12 to coincide with my "12 Days of Luxetips Before Christmas Posts", we are doing 10...( I am a little late).  Check them out!

1. HEXBUGS 

Luxe son and I discovered HEXBUGS at Blogher 2011 in San Diego.  They are tiny robotic creatures that behave like a bug.  These tiny robots scurry about, turn, and flip on their back and back again.  My son loves them.  They also come with a glow in the dark Habitat that allows the Nano to roam freely while performing cool tricks!  Hexbugs are designed to give kids a positive experience with robotics at an early age.  Love it!

2.  Hotel del Coronado Resot, San Diego, CA.

I visited Coronado Island and discovered the Hotel del Coronado Resort and fell in love.  Simply gorgeous!  I am so looking forward to taking the luxe kids back to this wonderful resort.  How can anyone resist a beach front property with tons of shopping, good food, sunny skies, dolphins, and fantastic events?  Lovely.

3.  Effie's Paper.

My style and BAP Icon, Kalyn Johnson is the creator of Effie's Paper.  I love writing thank you notes and personal cards to family and friends.  I keep cute stationary in my kitchen draw.  However, Effie's Paper takes cute to another level.  Effie's Paper is modern, chic and fashionable.  Love them!

4.  GAP 1969 Super Lightweight Legging Jeans.

You Divas know how much I love GAP Always Skinny Jeans.  However, now I have a new obsession, GAP's new super lightweight legging jeans.  They are super light and they fit like a glove.  The best thing I love about these jeans are how comfy they are.  Plus I look HOT in them.  They come in a host of colors.  A must have!

5. Lumene Premium Beauty Skincare line.

Of course Lumene is always a winner in my book.  I recently tried their Premium Beauty skincare line and fell in love.  This line was created for women with mature skin...over 50.  I am not there yet, but I love how it makes me skin glow and look so pretty.  It protects the skin against hyperpigmentation and reduces wrinkles.  You can purchase Lumene at any CVS.

6. Bath and Body Works Paris Amour Body Lotion.

I love Paris Amour!  Now I thought I graduated from Bath and Body Works after college.  However, Paris Amour has become my new obsession.  The scent is fruity and floral with hints of musk.  When I wear the lotion, men stop me in my tracks and compliment my scent or ask me what am I wearing.  Paris Amour is a big winner in 2011...hands down.

7. Lancôme's Trésor Midnight Rose 

A twist on the iconic Tresor fragrance.  It is light but still with a hint of seduction.  


8.  Pulisse Lip Comfort Daily Lip Nourisher.

I first started using this product in 2010 and I still use it.  It is by far the best lip balm I have ever used.  This nourisher keeps my lips baby skin soft.  Pur~lisse Pur~lip comfort is petroleum free and contains Mango Butter, Shea Butter, Rice Bran Oil, Jojoba Oil and Vitamin E lavish moisture.  


9. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20. 

I love this product! It is lightweight and you can use a little or a lot depending on the amount of coverage needed. Plus it includes SPF20.10. Hunter Boots!I love my Navy Hunter boots! They are great for the rain, ice, snow or simply when I want to keep my feet warm while running errands. I get tons of compliments from women and men alike. Everyone loves them.hunte boots

Hot Drugstore Find of the Week: Lumene Premium Beauty Rejuvenating Day and Night Cream

Of course I am a Lumene skincare fan and I have a new Lumene obsession to share.  Lumene's Premium Beauty Day and Night Cream.  

Lumene's Premimum Beauty skin care line is for women with mature skin, 50 years plus.  I am nowhere near that age, but I have been testing this line and I love it for my skin!   These moisturizing creams contain Sea buckthorn oil and it consists of Omega fatty acids (3, 6, 7, 9).  Sea Buckthorn oil promotes skin renewal while the antioxidants in the nectar protect the skin against free radicals. The products also contain a firming peptide compound that promotes collagen and elastin production. 

The night cream claims to firm the skin and protect it against pigment changes.  My experience with this cream has been phenomenal!  I love this cream because it is so luxurious.  It makes my skin feel like butter.  Also, when I awake in the morning, my skin looks rested and relaxed.  Plus it does not break me out which is always a plus.  A little goes a long way, so it will probably last for at least 6 months.   

The Day cream contains SPF 15, which is all important.  I find it is also very rich and gives my skin a nice sheen.  It claims to protect against pigmentation and to reduce wrinkles.

I am in my 30s and live a very high stress life.  These creams help me maintain healthy and beautiful skin while also helping me to be proactive against the skin aging process.  I love them!

Hot Drugstore Find of the Week: Lumene Time Freeze Eye Perfecting Treatment

I live a life of thankfulness to remain humble.

Previously I wrote about Lumene's new Time Freeze Eye Perfecting Treatment.  I have been using it for a few weeks now and it is one of the coolest products I have tried.

The first thing I love about this product is that is a very creamy eye cream but it also has a nice cooling effect.  Remember when I blogged about Lumene's cooling eye stick?  Well this eye treatment is a cross between the Lumene cooling stick and has the texture of my favorite eye cream, Dior HydraAction.

This eye stick can be used on all parts of the eye.  You can use it on your upper lid, the outer crease of the eye, and the delicate under eye area.  The cooling effect reduces puffiness in the morning and the cream claims to reduce wrinkles and firm the eye area.  It is formulated with artic heather and plant protein.   It is over 95% natural and is paraben, fragrance and colorant free.

My opinion:  This product is all about the applicator.  This has to be the best way to apply eye cream.

I simply whip it out when I wake in the morning and apply it to my lids, outer eye, and under eye area.  It instantly wakes me up and it is so smooth on my skin.  When I wake in the morning, my eyes are always really puffy so I do notice that this eye cream does reduce the puffiness after about 5 minutes!  Not bad!  I don't really have wrinkles around my eyes (knock on wood) yet, but I might as well use this cream to prevent them.

Hot Drugstore Find of the Week: Lumene Radiant Touch Moisturizing Cream Cleanser

Long time no hear!  I went on a little end of the school year, mini-vacay in Hilton Head and it was the best!  While in Hilton Head, I got a great tan and found this delish body scrub that I must share with you Divas! So stay tuned.

Of course I am a Lumene fan.  I am always trying different Lumene products because they just work so well with my skin.  Lately I have been using Lumene's new Radiant Touch Moisturizing Cream Cleanser.  This cleanser claims to brighten your skin tone while also leaving your skin soft and moisturized.  This cleanser contains Artic Cloudberry which is a key ingredient in Lumene products.  Artic Cloudberry "fortifies the skin, protecting it against pollution and stress while cloudberry nectar detoxifies, helping the skin to look brighter."  I have used several Lumene products containing Artic Cloudberry and I can attest that it does work over time to even your skin tone and make your skin appear brighter and more radiant.

I do like this cleanser a lot.  It does not foam as much as I wish (because I like foaming cleansers better) but it does get my skin very clean.  It leaves my skin soft to the touch and my skin tone is looking pretty good.  I have noticed that this cleanser works very well with my Clarisonic.  After I use this cleanser with the Clarisonic it does have a nice dewey freshly scrubbed look!

How was your weekend?  Mine was awesome!  I finally had an opportunity to relax and it felt great!

So I was in CVS doing my usual: picking up medicine for the kids, buying toiletries and of course browsing the beauty aisle, when I saw a coupon for a 10% off shopping beauty pass.  Of course, I was intrigued.

Hot Drugstore Find of the Week: Lumene Day Cream with SPF 15 Revisted.

Remember to love and take care of yourself no matter what!  No one can make you feel as beautiful as you can!

Last week, the luxe family and I were fortunate enough to spend a week in Hilton Head, S.C.  I love the Beach and sand and apparently the luxe kids do too!  Look at them working hard building sandcastles!

Anyhoo, while on the beach, I used my Lumene Day Cream with SPF 15 everyday and it worked like a charm.  There was simply no need to use additional sunscreen on my face.  This worked out great for me, because heavier sunscreen usually breaks me out.  I did not experience any sunburn and my skin just glowed all week long.  Talking about looking like a dark bronze bombshell! LOL!  I tell you Divas this Lumene Day Cream with SPF 15 is the truth.  It is lightweight, does not clog your pores, smells good and make you just glow!  It is one of the products I simply can not live without!

Hot Drugstore Find of the Week: Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub

I hope your day is filled with happiness and peace!

Divas I have sad news.  The absolute best drugstore face exfoliating wash is no longer being sold in the U.S. Yes it is true.  Lumene's Artic Touch Clarifying Mineral Scrub is no longer offered in the U.S.  It has been my go to product when I need to get rid of guck and reveal clean and healthy beautiful skin.  So I have been desperately searching for an alternative and picked up Neutrogena's Deep Clean Gentle Scrub.  This scrub contains microbeads that gently exfoliate and Beta Hydroxy to deep clean pores.

The cleanser is definitely not Lumene, but it does a pretty decent job.  The microbeads are small enough to not cause skin irritation and large enough to exfoliate pretty nicely.  It does not give a deep cleaning exfoliation, but it is enough to remove some dead skin.  The cleanser also cleans pretty well and my skin feels very clean but not dry.  It actually feels pretty smooth and soft.  What I really love about this cleanser is that it does not cause my skin to break out.  I have to be so careful when using products on my face.  One wrong move and my face will break out something fierce.

12 Days of Luxetips Before Christmas! Day One: Radiant Skin!

I love Christmas! I love decorating, baking cookies with my kids, and Christmas shopping! I love the holidays!

Many bloggers are doing 12 days of Christmas posts and many of my beauty blogging friends are doing 12 days of beauty. Well I thought it would be fun to do 12 days of Luxetips (before Christmas) posts! My theme? Get luxe and fab for Christmas Day!

On Day 1, I recommend achieving radiant and beautiful skin so you can glow, glow, glow on the big day! Here are my luxetips for radiant skin:


1. Give yourself a mini-facial starting this week and next week. My girl, Mischo Beauty, hipped me to weekly mini-facials last summer. I mostly use Lumene products for my weekly mini-facials. My routine is as follows: I use a mild cleanser, toner, Lumene's ARCTIC TOUCH Clarifying Mineral Peeling (makes my skin as smooth as a baby's!), and Lumene's ARCTIC TOUCH Deep Cleansing Peat Mask.

2. I also recommend using a nightly intensive skin cream to reverse aging, clear blemishes, and achieve radiant skin. Hot Drugstore Find of the Week: Lumene Time Freeze Serum

As you Divas know, I filmed an interview with Lisa Price of Carol's Daughter last Friday. However, I am having major problems getting the video off of my VADO mini-cam. For one it is not MAC compatible, so I have to use a PC. Unfortunately, I am having issues downloading the video using the PC also! Ugh! So please be patient and stay tuned. Well I am glad I did because my skin is like pure silk. It is glowing and the texture of my skin has improved 100%! I am in love with this Serum. I guess the twice daily application of highly concentrated vitamins and minerals is renewing my skin in a major way. This just proves that with a little experimentation, you can discover a new way to use a product that will generate amazing results!

I have been using the serum and moisturizer for a week and a half and thus far I am pretty impressed with the results I have received. My favorite product in this line, hands down, is the serum. It is fantastic! I use it every night and morning and my skin is firmer and smoother. Also after applying the serum at night and waking up in the morning, my face looks well rested and relaxed. I apply the serum alone at night and I apply it under the Lumene Vitamin C Day Cream with SPF 15 (SPF 15 is a must!) in the morning. The serum quickly absorbs into my skin and I only need a few drops to cover my face and neck. What I love most about Lumene products and especially this serum is that it does not break out my skin. I have super sensitive skin and I try many products and 50% of them will break me out. I can TRULY say that Lumene products have never caused one blemish on my skin. (Knock on wood) In my book this is huge!

The Excellnet Future Deep Repairing Cream is very thick, so you only need a small amount to moisturize your face. I only use it sparingly and not every night. The Day Cream with SPF 15 works better for me.

Lumene Time Freeze Instant Cooling Eye Stick

I hope your Tuesday is simply fabulous! As you know, when I joined Lumene Skincare's Facebook Page, I won some Lumene goodies! In my opinion, Lumene is the best drugstore brand skincare line on the market. I wish I had discovered them sooner. Included in this package was Lumene's Time Freeze Instant Cooling Eye Stick. This product claims to minimize puffiness and dark circles in the eye contour. I used this product for the first time yesterday because I had an extremely late night and woke up to puffy eyes. Usually, I apply a cold compress or spoon, or tea bags to get rid of the puffiness. But I grabbed this stick instead.

What I absolutely love about this stick is that as soon as you apply it to your eye area, it immediately has a cooling effect. My skin immediately begin to tingle. It is very refreshing. Also the stick is moisturizing and lightweight. The stick immediately absorbs into your skin. But the most fascinating thing about this stick is that it actually works! Now the name is a little misleading. It does not instantly reduce puffiness. Ten minutes after application the puffiness was significantly reduced. After 30 minutes, the puffiness was completely gone! That was good enough for me! LOL! I am not sure if the eye stick reduces dark circles, but I am pretty pleased with its effect on puffiness.
