Voluspa Candles at Anthropologie

I was long over due for another Voluspa Japonica candle. My favorite, Baltic Amber, had long since burnt. Deciding not to get stuck in a rut, I sampled some of the newer Japonicafragrances and some of the older ones that I had ignored time and again for the Baltic Amber. I kept coming back to my usual, entranced by the musky scent of the Baltic Amber. The Baltic Amber is a mix of amber resin, cedar, vanilla bean and sandalwood. I love vanilla and sandalwood so you can see the attachment to the Baltic Amber.

 

I ran across the French Cade and Lavender. Clearly obsessed with anything French, I decided on the French Cade because hoping that the light smell of Southern French country would bring my upcoming trip some much needed good karma (I will not discuss the passport situation). TheFrench Cade and Lavender, contain aromatics of Fench Cade Wood, lavender bulgaria, verbena and moss. The lavender is not overpowering and the verbena is a light and refreshing  scent that makes the French Cade more appropriate for the season. Every fashionable woman deserves a fashionable candle. The decorative Voluspa Japonica tins  alone are worth the purchase. Each is painted in a signature color that strikes with the fragrance. The 12 ounce candles burn for hours on end- 60 to be exact. Sexy Corsets at Anthropologie

Nothing like a sexy corset top to make me feel like a woman. The Creased Swirls Corset Top is a top consisting of several pleated strips of golden yellow fabric with bold black and white graphic swirls. The strapless top by Floreat contains a removable sash and side zip. It is $88.00 atAnthropologie.

 

Another cool corset top is the Pesisir Top. Curious to know what pesisir was, I took a quick look on Wikipedia* and found that it is a type of Batik practice native to Java and Indonesia that has been largely  influenced by other cultures, including China. The outside influeces results in batick prints that contain bold colors and animals common to the Chinese culture, for example the phoenix and dragon.  The Pesisir Top, by Fei, is also constructed from several pleats folded together. Whereas the Creased Swirls Corset Top is constructed from vertical folds, the Pesisir Top is constructed from folds cut on the bias. The  Pesisir Top contains side pockets  and a back zip. Modcloth's Brush With the Wild Skirt!

You know I had been fawning over the Panther's Play dress at Anthropologie, a strapless corset dress with an amalgam of prints. I found a cute alternative to the $348 work of art.  Modcloth is now carrying the Brush With the Wild Skirt by Mink Pink. The skirt is a fun mix of leopard and tiger prints with colors yellow and gray similar to the Panther's Play. It is all of the luster of the Panther's Play dress at a mere fraction of the cost.  The Panther's Play is  $57.99 at Modcloth.

New Anthropologie in West Midtown, Atlanta: Unique and Eclectic

You know I love TJMaxx, and you know I love Modcoth, but my absolute favorite is Anthropologie. Carrying some of the best and well-crafted brands like Tracy Reese, Michael Stars, Maeve and Leifsdottir, Anthropologie has an eclectic feel and offers a number of fashion forward pieces that you are unlikely to find elsewhere. The pieces are unique, allowing the buyer to wear for years to come. I wear pieces from nearly 10 years ago and still get compliments. 

 

You can imagine my excitement when I found that a new location was being built less than five miles from my house! The new Anthropologie opened on Howell Mill Rd in Atlanta, GA across the fromTaqueira del Sol and Bacchanalia.  No one Anthropologie is alike. Trust me, I have done the legwork- Atlanta, Georgetown, San Francisco, Chelsea Market. I know that each Anthro offers an eclectic and unique appeal. The Howell Mill location is definitely different from any other. The new location is befitting of its surroundings, an eclectic mix of modern cosmopolitan fixtures with rustic touches, i.e., unfinished hardwoods, lots of open space, heavy white laminate doors, soft lighting and wooden footstools in the dressing rooms.

 

For those of you too fearful to venture into the chaos and traffic at the Buckhead or Permieter locations, Howell Mill is perfect. Slightly off the beaten path but close enough to the action. You can shop for interiors, run into Anthro, and top off your shopping spree with blueberry martinis from JCT kitchen.

Hood-ie-Rat: Cute Hoodies at Anthropologie and Modcloth

I have seen a wonderful array of cute hoodies. After Hubby's comment that my gym clothes looked "matronly" (clutch the pearls), I try not to wear generic athletic wear to and fro the gym. I like to wear a sporty hoodie or fitted jacket. Anthropologie's Superfluous Bellows Hoodie is a cute take on the hoodie trend and is multi-faceted. It fits the bill for inspriing gym wear or simple weekend casual. The Superfluous Bellows Hoodie has gorgeous pleats lining the hem of the cotton blend and ruching throughout.  The Pure and Good creation is machine wash and zips up. You can find it at Anthropologie for $68.00.

 

The Hoodie Gumdrops Jacket  is another fantastic option. It is far dressier than the Superfulous Bellows Hoodie, and one that I would  save for a Friday night at the movies rather than soiling it with sweat. The black hoodie has a felted interior - just yummy for those breezy mornings-  with brass buttons and a drawstring hood. Chartreuse Yellow: Francesca's and Anthropolgie

My color of the month is chartreuse yellow. According to Wikipedia there is a chartreuse green and a chartreuse yellow. I thought chartreuse was simply chartreuse, a mix of green and yellow, but apparently there is a yellow mix of green and yellow and a green mix of green and yellow. The yellow version is my new fave!

 

I purchased the Evening Rememberance Cardi at Christmas and it is a sure thing! Paired with black tights and my brown Frye Jane boots, the cardigan gives a professional look to comfort. I have received several compliments on the color, but it is actually the cute gold buttons that give the sweater its aesthetic appeal.  Unfortunately the Evening Remeberance Cardi is currently out of stock at Francesca's Collections.

 

I also found the Squeezebox Top,  a comfortable short- sleeved cotton knit, with perfectly crafted ruffles along the front of the shirt. The cotton is incredibly soft and comfy, not to mention light. You can find the Squeezebox Top at Anthropologie for $48.00, and if chartreuse does not quite ring with you, the Squeezebox also comes in white, navy, and aqua.

Leifsdottir at Anthropologie

One of my favorite designers, once exclusive to Anthropologie,  Leifsdottir announced last month that the company has expanded its repertoire to shoes!  Boy are you in for a treat. If you fancy the crisp romantic blouses, smart wide-legged pants, and form fitted dresses Leifsdottir is famed for, then you will love the well-crafted leather wedges, stilettos, and flats they now peddle. Less than two minutes on their website and I found four pairs of shoes that had me giddy.

 

The Katja Wedge is as exotic as it sounds, a faux python leather wedge with sexy beaded and feathered fringed running down the front of the shoe. The wedge heel is a funky architectural mod shape. The best thing about this shoe is the padded footbed that helps relieve pressure on the balls of the foot. The sandal also includes a back zip. The Katja Wedge sells for $428.00.

The Jenn  Heels make Mondays just a little easier. Made in Brazil from soft buttery leather, theJenn Heels are a pair of black leather mule sandals that have a four inch heel touched with shiny pewter.  It's so fierce and unique. Think Judy Jetson meets Jimmy Choo. For a mere $338.00 you could have a look that is totally out of this world.

 

The Lotta flats are perfect for amping up casual weekend style. The Lotta Flats are a pair of round-toe ballet slippers with a thick ankle strap. Pair them with leggings or skinnies a tunic and a chunky necklace, and grocery shopping will never have been more fun. The soft buttery leather looks sharp in the nude color, but they also come in black. The Lotta Flats sell for $248.00.

The Ilona is a peep-toe platform sandal with adjustable leather ankle straps. The leather is nude and light gray. The stacked platform heel measure four and one half inches. This number is perfect for summer casual office attire and Sunday brunch with the girls. The Ilona sells for $328.00.

Panther's Play Dress at Anthropolgie

I need to find a place to go, quick!  I am absolutely in love with the Panther's Play dress at Anthropologie and I need a reason to purchase it.  The Panther's Play Dress is the creation of one of Anthro's famed brands, Leifsdottir. The strapless corseted dress is an amalgam of prints, namely leopard and marbling, in gray, black and yellow. The bodice is so well -crafted, that you will  barely notice that it is several strips of fabric rather than one solid piece of fabric. Thesateen sheath has an exposed zipper and cotton lining. It is 31.5 long. The Panther's Play is an online exclusive at Anthropologie for $348.00.

Maeve and Anthropolgoie: Kiss me, I'm Cablinasian

St. Patty's Day is lurking around the corner. It is probably Corporate America's least favorite holiday. Despite where I am working  and despite not fully knowing my heritage (still have not figured out if Great Great Grandaddy was English or Irish)  I wear green. I figure that it is much easier for me to wear green than to punch someone for pinching me. I visited one my favorite online spots just to see the new digs and guess what I found? Two of the most beautiful green dresses that I have ever seen. Should I be surprised? No, it is Anthropologie.

 

The Spring Ready Dress by Maeve is appropriately named as we have all been eagerly anticipating Spring. Each extra glimmer of daylight has me delighted. Maeve is a popular and well-made brand frequently sold at Anthro. The Spring-Ready Dress will no doubt exceed expectations. It is a faux-wrap jersey dress with a wide belt and elastic waist (smile)  and "some dramatic wedges" (wink). It is 37 inches long and sells for $98.00.

  

The Fountain of Youth Dress, also by Maeve, is a voile shirtdress, fitted in the waist, and embellished with cutaway shoulders. The dress ties in the back with a bow and closes in the front with buttons. It is lined (yes!) and machine washable (Hallelujah!).  The Fountain of Youthsells for $128.00.

Aged Leaf Ring at Anthropologie

I am so inspired by those fleeting moments of sunshine we have every six days or so. Everything that has been catching my eye lately reminds me of sun, sand or flowers. I have even decorated my house at every turn with bright lavender and green mums and hydrangeas. Anything that looks like, sounds like or smells like Spring has my full attention. The Aged Leaf Ring  is my latest obsession because it makes me feel as though there is a light at the end of this "30 something degrees" tunnel. The Aged Leaf Ring is a bright green leaf-shaped ring handmade in Argentina. It is oxidized brass that looks as though it were hand painted. Coconut Pearl Cover-Up at Anthropologie

Oh Summer, you just can't get here fast enough, can you? This time of year always has me dreaming of tropics. I am hoping that my next beach vacation is outside of the Caribbean. I am thinking Tahiti, so that  I can walk the same sands as Gauguin. I have the perfect cover-up to wear while I sip Tahiti Drinks.  Anthropologie's Coconut Pearl Cover-up  is purported to be manufactured in a distinct fashion so that the cover-up never loses its true form. Because the cover-up is an on-line exclusive, I could not visit the store to put it to the test, and I doubt that a visit to the store would be enough to determine the veracity of such a statement. In either case, the cover-up is certainly dreamy enough to make me purchase regardless of any truth or untruth. Besides anything with the word "coconut" in the title and sold by my absolute favorite has to be good, right? The Coconut Pearl Cover-up is sold at Anthropologie for  $138.00.

Enchanting Eyes Belt!

Remember that boyfriend with the pretty hazel eyes? Remember how quickly he caught your eye?  The Enchanting Eyes Belt does just that, catches your eye, but without any chance of heartbreak.  The Enchanting Eyes Belt is a statement piece that could be worn with minimalistic prints but would look so much better against a solid black dress or jumpsuit. Flirty white dresses are a trend for the upcoming Summer, and setting some bling like the Enchanting Eyes Belt against an all white tunic or dress will certainly break up the monotony of the outfit. I had my eye on the belt for quite some time, and I watched it sell out before it had the chance to go on sale. Freehand Tartan Belt at Anthropologie

This belt is so right for a number of reasons. For starters, it's plaid. Despite what people may say, plaid never goes out of style. It may sneak in hipster trends with big and bold flashes, but classic tartan absolutely never goes out of style. Take Burberry for example, have you ever heard anyone say that Burberry scarves are out of style? No, and neither have I.

The Freehand Tartan Belt is more than just plaid. It is a funky and sexy way to cinch your waist. Not too trendy because the muted tones are perfect for a number of outfits and for the promising spring weather. If it so happens to find its way in to my closet, you'd better believe it will stay there for some time amongst some crisp white blouses, khaki ankle pants and white linen shirtdresses. Day 11: Oxford Booties

Hello Divas!

I hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving Day!  I am still stuffed from yesterday, but I have lots of food to nibble on for the next few days.

Chamele loves Oxford Booties. I do too!

 

The oxford is one of this seasons biggest trends. Last season found young ladies in flat oxfords and no socks  with dresses and pants alike. This season's trend combines the bootie of past seasons and the lace-up oxford for the ultimate in menswear inspired dressing- the oxford bootie. While I find the flat oxfords absolutely adorable, I tend to stick to heels.  Even at 5'7 I am still on a quest to elongate my legs.

 

A good friend with an amazing shoe closet purchased a pair of lace-up oxfords to wear with jeans and button-downs. She picked an incredible wine color that was sporty and unique. I was green with envy at her wine colored purchase, the Nine West Trixy shown below.  The Trixy is a lace up oxford with a 3. 5 inch heel. It comes black leather, dark gray and  brown leathers $87.16 at Zappo's.

 

Some other spins on the trend include the Maria Sharapova by Cole Haan "Air Swan" Oxford Pump, $228.00 at Dillards. The Air Swan is a patent leather version of the oxford bootie that is topped with the velvet bow. A great dress-up shoe to keep the tickies warm. 

 

Anthropologie also carries a purple suede oxford, the Caladoc Heel, for $228.00.

 

Faux Fur is HOT!!!

Day 18

Environmentally friendly designers have stepped up their game and are including a host of fur pieces in their Winter lines. Fur is such a huge trend right now, that faux furs have been given a more luxurious look at more affordable prices. Being from the South, there is rarely an opportunity to wear fur without looking a little offbeat. Our Summer extends well into Fall, and our Winters are more of a Northern Summer. There are some furs that  I would rock in our current 60 degree weather.

 

I am an old school girl, so the two faux coats that speak to me are reminiscent of old Hollywood. The first is a collarless brown faux rabbit that reminds me of the early Eighties. It has hook and eye closures, puff sleeves, and is fully lined. You almost don't need a reason to wear it.   The Pins and Needles Puff Sleeve Faux Fur Coat is $168.00 at Urban Outfitters.

 

The second coat, the Just My Luxe, is a  black faux mink with collar. It is a very retro waistcoat with quarter-length sleeves and a ribboned belt. The Just My Luxe Jacket is $97.99 at Modcloth.

 

There is also a sweater that caught my eye. The Irina Cardigan has a fur collar cardigan, making the sweater a perfect match for any dress and would look sweet even with jeans. The major selling point for me is the detachable collar. Translation I can make any of my coats and cardigans a lush throwback. The Irina Cardigan is $198.00 at Anthropologie.

Bug Jewelry at Anthropologie and Modcloth!

Hello Divas!

Well we made it to Friday! Whoohoo!  I am just looking forward to lying in bed until at least 9am this Saturday morning.  Yes!  All Divas need rest. It replenishes the body and soul.

Are you the kind of girl who isn't really into snakes and crocs unless its on your hand bag or shoes. Me too! I am not a bug chic either, but I keep running across the most adorable bug jewelry.

I am eyeing or more literally stalking the Sparkling Spider Clip-ons and waiting for the moment the price drops on these babies. These creepy crawlers are made from stainless steel and Murano glass beads, and I would let these suckers crawl on my ear all day long. The Sparkling Spider Clip-ons are $278.00 at Anthropologie. 

I also found a pair of giant gilded gold cicadas. I think what attracted me the most to these was the gilded gold. The suckers look a little real, but who wouldn't want a bug dipped in gold, right? The Magicicada earrings are $29.99 at Modcloth.

The fierce passionate Scorpio I am, I represent my sign proudly. I  ran across a cute scorpion ring in a magazine. It is sold at 80spurple.com, but when I went to the website I couldn't find it. Its My Birthday! Birthday Wish List!

Hello Divas!

I hope you are having an awesome day! Well today is my birthday! I am so thankful to God to live and enjoy life another year! I have so much to be thankful for! Michele Women's Deco Day Diamond Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch. I have been wanting this watch for years. It is large and a bit over the top, yet simple and clean. I may have to buy it as a birthday gift to myself! Hotness!

Of course, my birthday would certainly be complete and I could forget all of the other items on my wish list, if a pair of tickets to the No Doubt concert somehow fell in my hands. I love No Doubt. I have been rocking out to No Doubt since the "I'm Just a Girl" days. I have every album and I know all of their songs verbatim. They are my favorite band of all time. Really. I am so glad they are back together and of course, Gwen Stefani rocks! So if anyone out can make this happen, I would be soooooo happy! LOL!

I hope everyone is having an awesome day! I am currently obsessed with all things lavender and purple. I have always liked lavender, but now that purple is the "IT" color for fall, I finally see its Majestic fabness! I am particularly fascinated with purple accessories, coats, and shoes.
