When Ninja Assassin first made its presence known to us, it sounded like it could be one of the more entertaining flicks on its way to our eyes. Sometimes the production process is a long and trying one, however, and when the movie's release drew near and every single commercial break had a spot advertising it, I found myself personally losing interest at an alarming rate. The movie had gone from an fun and exciting prospect to a title that had seemingly over-done it before it had even hit theaters.

This of course wasn't the best of set-ups for someone like myself entering into a review of the movie, but it's been multiple months now since the theatrical run, allowing the persistent advertisement efforts to wear off enough for me to jump in.

Ninja Assassin tells the story of a secret society of ninjas who inherit orphaned children and turn them into the deadliest killers the world has ever seen, paid 100 pounds of gold (or its equivalent over time) to remove people who need removing. [...]

Book Review: ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls’

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls
Paperbook
By Steve Hockensmith
Quirk Books
Release date: March 23, 2010

Is classic literature your thing? Do you think everything could use a little zombie in it? Well you are in luck, because Quirk Classic have followed up on Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, their extremely wild take on Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls.

Quirk has definitely made itself known for these interesting takes on classic tales, especially Jane Austen books, which they've infused with zombies. Let me just start off by saying that this concept could have easily been used to pull in zombie fans with no depth or quality in writing, but author Steve Hockensmith definitely does not take this approach and brings a fresh spin to zombifying a classic tale.

Dawn of the Dreadfuls is a prequel to the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies telling the start of the Bennet's story. Oscar Bennet, the father of the family, had dealt with the dreadfuls -- the zombies -- in the past when he was in the order and now the dreadfuls are back and he has to prepare his family for their attacks [...]

Spoiler Talk: Clash Of The Titans (2010)

Looking for another remake? Well you've come to the right place, or better yet time. Over the past couple years it seems like every month or two we get the [dis]pleasure of a new remake. This is especially true when it comes to the genre of science fiction and fantasy.

Well the new Clash Of The Titans looks to capitalize on this trend in movies. I personally have never seen the original but have heard about how enjoyable it was and will probably be renting it for a watch some time soon.

One of my favorite types of media is mythology-based fantasy. The Percy Jackson book series was one of my favorites because of its use of Greek mythology. That being said i was extremely excited for the new Clash Of The Titans. It lived up to my hype level and I am so happy for that.

The only thing that I would like to say is I have not seen the 3D version on principle. I refuse to support the Hollywood craze to up-convert movies. If you want to have a 3D film please, I beg of you, film it in 3D. But enough of that though, let's get to the SPOILER TALK!

Below are some of my spoiler-filled thoughts on the film; Make sure to put in your spoilerific thoughts in the comments! [...]

WonderCon 2010: ‘All Star Batman and Robin’ To Return With New Name & Final Issues

Posted:

All Star Batman and Robin will be returning with new issues next year.

Wow, there's something I never thought I'd be saying. I thought I'd be consoling my grandchildren as they asked me, "Whatever happened to that beautiful Batman book with the swear words blanked out in it?"

Yes, the G*d Damned Batman will be returning in February of 2011 with original creators Jim Lee and Frank Miller, according to Lee, who spoke yesterday at the DCU panel at WonderCon 2010 about the future of the much-delayed book.

The legendary creators will be completing the series under a new title. For the last six issues, the book will be called Dark Knight: Boy Wonder and will ship monthly [...]
