New Year's Eve! Look Radiant with Benefit Cosmetics' Lust Duster Shimmer Powder

Hello Divas!

It is New Year's Eve! Whoohoo! How are you going to spend your New Year's Eve? I am going to spend it at home with the hubby and kids. However, a champagne toast will be had! lol! When I was kid free, I always went out for New Year's Eve and I had to look fabulous! So for you beautiful Divas who will party it up tonight, I recommend that you use Benefit Cosmetics Lust Duster Shimmer Powder. This shimmer powder will give you a radiant glow that will last until the wee hours of the morning. I love this product! Lust Dusters are loose shimmering powders that come in 10 different shades. You can use them on your eyes, cheeks, or all over to give your face a fantastic sheen. If I were going out tonight and had on a strapless or low cut dress, I would also use this powder on my collar bone and decolletege. I am currently using the Lust Duster powder in Nugget. It is a nice champagne color that I believe looks great on any skin tone. Plus the glimmer is insane! You only have to use a tiny bit of this product to achieve a fabulous glow! This powder is also great for everyday use. I use it on my cheeks and brow bone as a highlighter. Also I use it as a eyeliner and as an all over lid eyeshadow. It definitely "wakes up" your eyes. Lust Dusters retail for $18 and you can purchase them online here or at any Sephora.

Have a Great New Year's Eve!

Sale of the Century! Saks Fifth Avenue

Hello Divas!

I am back! I needed that holiday break! I hope your holiday was fantastic! Well of course I could not wait for the After-Christmas sales and boy was it ever worth the wait! I mean it is bananas! Every store is having a 50%-75% off sale. Some stores are having a sale on EVERYTHING! If you don't have a strategy when shopping these sales you can really go ballistic! But of course I went in with a strategy and stuck to it. I basically made a list of certain staple items that I needed to balance out my wardrobe. My logic is this: during this economic downturn when stores are literally giving away items, stock up on quality or luxury staple items that will stand the test of time. We all know that recessions come and go. So be smart and get the classic trench, black pumps, or luxe everyday bag at a deep discount. You will have these items forever.

Well my first and last stop while shopping was Saks Fifth Avenue. From now until after New Years, you can save 50% to 75% off on select designer items. I purchased a fabulous pair of Elie Tahari wide legged black pants that were originally $188.00 for $40! Amazing! Also if you shop in store or at their outlet Off Fifth, they are deeper discounts on already reduced merchandise. Here are a few staple items I would buy now if you don't have them already. And Divas, if you are experiencing shopping Nirvana this season, please share!

Black sheath. This Theory black sheath dress was originally $385. It is now selling on line for $231. A black sheath is a must for any Diva's closet.

Classic Trench Coat. I love this Brian Reyes Trench coat. The color and pattern is just gorgeous. This coat originally retailed for $1495.00. You can purchase it now for only $358.76.

Wide Legged Wool Trousers. These Milly trousers can go with anything! Dress them up for a night on the town. Or pair them with a fitted jacket for the perfect business attire. They originally retailed for $310.00 but they are now only $74. Divas this is a steal for a pair of quality wool trousers. Buy them!

Hot Drugstore Find of the Week: Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion

Hello Divas!

I hope you are having a fantastic Wednesday! My hot drugstore find of the week is Aveeno's Daily Moisturizing Lotion. My husband actually purchases this lotion for my son because he has a mild case of Eczema, so we have to keep his skin super hydrated. This lotion is clinically proven to relieve dry skin and when I use it on my son, the dry patches on his skin are healed within 12 hours! Amazing! So of course I had to use it! This lotion is perfect for winter. Like most Divas, my skin becomes very dry during the winter months. But once I apply this lotion, my skin is soft and moisturized. What I love about this lotion is that once you apply it, you do not have to continually reapply it throughout the day. It quickly absorbs into your skin and is totally non-greasy. And I was delighted to discover that Aveeno's Daily Moisturizing Lotion was a Allure Magazine 2007 Award Winner. I just love it when I product I love and have been using is recognized as the best of the best! That means I am on the right track! LOL! You can purchase Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion at CVS or online here. A 18 oz bottle retails for $11.99.

Ped Egg: My Review!

Hello Divas!

I hope your Tuesday is fabulous! A couple of weeks ago I read Funkidivagirl's post on her experience using the Ped Egg foot file. She loved it! In addition, I have consistently read rave reviews about this product so I had to try it. Last night, I gave myself a pedicure and I used the Ped Egg. When I first started using the Ped Egg I was not sure it was working. I initially expected huge amounts of dead skin to slough off immediately. But the Ped Egg does not work that way. The Ped Egg gently and methodically sloughs off dead skin. Actually, it was quite therapeutic. It took about 30 minutes to completely remove all the dead skin. When I was done my feet were baby smooth. I am in love with this product! Plus I love that the Ped Egg includes an emery buffing pad to smooth out your feet after using the foot file. How fabulous is that?!!! The Ped Egg retails for $10.00 and you can purchase it at Target or online here.

Lancome Color Design Sensational Effects Eye Shadow Quad

Hello Divas!

I hope your weekend was wonderful! This weekend I attended a Christmas Party and I wore a Tuxedo with a low cut dressy tank. I must say I was looking pretty HOT! Well I wanted to try a more dramatic look so I chose a smokey eye using Lancome's Color Design Sensational Effects Eye Shadow Quad. This quad includes Drape, an off white sheen; Click, a dark lavender shimmer; Statuesque, a black intense color; and Makeover, a pretty pink metallic. I received this quad as a gift with purchase and I love it! The eye shadows have great pigment, glide on like silk, and the colors have AMAZING staying power! I usually wear the pink color to add a pop of color to my face. Well Friday night was the first time I tried the smokey eye look. I used Drape all over my lid. I then applied Click in the crease, and I used a Q-tip and lined my upper and lower lash in Statuesque. And it only took 2 minutes! Why? Well Lancome included a step-by-step technique guide which explained in great detail how to create a "Dramatic Look." So for you ladies who are uncertain on how to create a "smokey eye" this step by step guide is perfect. My eyes were gorgeous and I received so many compliments! Lancome has several Color Design Sensational Effects Eye Shadow Quads. They retail for $42.00, but you can usually receive a sample of these Quads as a gift with a purchase of $36 or more! You can purchase the Quads here or at any Macy's or Nordstroms.

Sonia Kashuk Lash and Brow Groomer

Hello Divas!

Are you getting into the holiday spirit? I am! I love the holidays! I hope your days are filled with lots of joy! My favorite budget friendly lash and brow groomer is from the Sonia Kashuk line. The best part about this lash and brow groomer is the brow groomer. The bristles are very firm and are designed at the perfect angle. With a few strokes, my brows are instantly whipped into shape. It blends brow shadow like a dream! The lash comb is made of metal, so I don't use it. I must admit I am afraid of metal near my eye! Yikes! But I hear it is fantastic for creating perfectly separated eyelashes. In my opinion the brow groomer alone is worth the purchase. Sonia Kashuk has fabulous make-up brushes that are TOP NOTCH and inexpensive. Sonia Kashuk make-up brushes are sold at Target. The lash and brow groomer retails for $7.99 and you can purchase it here.

Coconut Oil = Beautiful Hair

Hello Divas!

I hope your Monday is wonderful! Today I must gush about the fabulousness of coconut oil. I first learned about the benefits of using coconut oil on my hair from DE of Beauty Logic. It is her secret for Beautiful Hair! Well since DE raved about coconut oil so much, I started using it 4 months ago. Per DE's suggestion, I apply a liberal amount of organic coconut oil to my scalp (I also massage my scalp) and hair the night before a salon visit. After my hair is washed and styled, my hair is super shiny, bouncy and just healthy. In addition, my stylist is amazed at how fast my hair is growing. My hair has not grown this fast in years! In addition, if my hair is a little dry, I apply a teeny teeny amount to the ends of my hair and it works like a charm. Plus I use it on luxe baby's hair. It is great for moisturizing her hair...its organic and all natural. Perfect for luxe baby. As DE suggested, I use Spectrum brand Organic Coconut Oil. You can purchase it at Whole Foods. A 14 oz. bottle retails for $9.00. You can also purchase it online here.

And ladies you must read Beauty Logic. Fabulous!

Fun Fridays: Features

Hello Divas!

I hope your Friday is awesome! I must admit, I am not sad to see the end of this week! But some cool things did happen this week. On Monday, I was featured on Funkidivagirl's website as a 4 Real Housewife. In light of the interesting and highly debated Real Housewives of Atlanta, Funkidivagirl is featuring real women who are wives, mothers, business owners, and divas who make their families their priority..... 4 Real Housewives! Love it. So check it out here and tell me what you think.

Also I wrote a beauty article for a new up and coming urban magazine based in Atlanta. The League Magazine is a virtual magazine that is similar to the now defunct Honey and Vibe Vixen Magazines. The Article is on page 27 and is entitled "Recession Proof Your Beauty Routine." Check it out here. Keri Hilson is on the cover and there is a fantastic interview in the magazine with Ms. Hilson.

Have a great weekend!

Hello Divas!

I feel like such a girl when I wear Lancome products! Well I have been using Lancome's Effacerness Waterproof Protective Undereye Concealer and it is by far the best concealer I have tried. What makes it so special? Well this concealer effectively conceals undereye dark circles and fine lines with just a tiny tiny bit of the product! I use this concealer when I am exhausted and I develop dark circles. It smooths out and brightens my under eye area with a nice healthy glow! The coverage is very natural looking! I love that it blends perfectly with my skin tone. Plus it is waterproof, so no smudging or fading by the end of the day. Also this concealer comes in a variety of shades to compliment any skin tone. Hot Drugstore Find of the Week: Pure and Natural Grapefruit and Pomegranate Body Wash

Hello Divas!

I hope your Wednesday is filled with joy! My hot drugstore find of the week is actually another Target find! I have discovered a new body wash that I am just in love with! As I was walking down the soap aisle in Target, a luscious smell greeted my nose. I looked up and I was in front of the body washes. So I proceeded to smell each one until I discovered that this wonderful scent was coming from the Pure & Natural Renewing Grapefruit and Pomegranate body wash. The scent is outstanding! It has a very intense grapefruit scent with a hint of pomegranate. The body wash lathers very easily. A quarter size amount was enough! Also it is very very moisturizing. The body wash left my skin so soft and smooth. Oh and did I say that it smells absolutely yummy! I love it! Plus this body wash is 99% all natural! It contains pure glycerin, and is infused with almond oil, grapefruit and pomegranate extract. Pure and Natural products are paraben free, biodegradable, and come in 100% recyclable packaging. Fabulous! This body wash retails for $6.99 for a 13 oz bottle. But I purchased mine on sale at Target for $4.99.

Elke's The Model Brow Collection: Day Brow Shadow

Hello Divas!

I hope your Tuesday is beautiful! Divas I had the opportunity to try Elke Von Freudenberg's Day Brow Shadow in dark brunette from her Model Brow Collection. Elke IS the eyebrow guru. She is a highly sought after celebrity brow specialist. Read her bio here. I must say that this brow shadow is just fabulous! First this color is fantastic for women with darker skin tones or dark eyebrows. The color is the perfect dark brown color. It blended perfectly with my eyebrows. Also a little goes a long way. When I initially applied the brow shadow, I applied too much. However, I re-applied the product with a Q-tip with just a little bit of the powder. Perfection. Lastly, the consistency of the product is silky smooth. It is so easy to apply..it literally glides on. And Divas, Elke created 4 different brow shadows that will match any skin tone or eyebrow color. I love it! Also you must check out her entire Model Brow Collection. Her collection also includes brow pencils, brow tamers, highlighters, and brushes. The day brow shadow retails for $20. Click here for purchase information.

Another fabulous lip gloss! Lancome Juicy Tubes

Hello Divas!

I hope your day is fantastic! My good girlfriend, Renee S. wanted me to be sure to tell my readers about the fabulousness of Lancome Juicy Tubes. Her exact words are: "I am hooked on Lancome's Juicy Tubes! It is wonderful when one's lips feel good, smell good, and taste good all from the same tube!" And I agree. Juicy Tubes come in an array of fabulous colors that compliment any skintone. The shine is outstanding! They also smell sooo good! Based on which collection of Juicy Tubes you purchase, each tube will have a scrumptious smell based on the theme or name of that lip gloss. For example, Juicy Tubes Chic Delights Collection has a Caramel Praline lip gloss that smells and taste like praline candy. See my grandma used to make caramel praline candy from scratch so this lip gloss brings back memories. Yummy! Plus the lip gloss will keep your lips moist all day long. Lancome's Juicy Tubes lip glosses retail for $18.00. You can purchase them at Sephora.com. I know Divas so many glosses...but my philosophy is you can never have enough lip gloss!

Hot Drugstore Find of the Week: Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm

Hello Divas!

I hope you are having a wonderful day! So so so cold this morning! I need homemade banana nut bread and a big cup of tea! My hot drugstore find of the week is Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. This lip balm is a must for cold winter months. If I do not use this lip balm everyday during the winter months, my lips are dry and cracked. Ugh! Burt's Bees Beeswax lip balm contains lanolin, coconut oil and sunflower oil. So it is very moisturizing. The beeswax seals in hydration so your lips stay moist all day long. Lastly, the lip balm contains peppermint oil so it gives your lips a little refreshing tingle and it smells nice! And for those of us who love natural or organic products, this balm is 95% all natural. I love this balm! You can purchase Burt's Bees Beeswax lip balm from any CVS for only $3.00.

Nars Cosmetics: My Illicit Love Affair

Hello Divas!

I hope your Monday is filled with happiness and purpose! It is cold, cold, cold. Lots of Starbucks Refresh Tea for me! Today I am going to discuss my love affair with Nars Cosmetics. I say it is a love affair because the cosmetics are gorgeous but expensive. It is especially expensive when you buy 2 Nars blushes and an eyeshadow duo once a month! Ouch! But what can I say, I absolutely adore Nars. The colors are so highly pigmented, you don't have to use a lot of the product to achieve the color. So the product lasts longer. And unlike other cosmetics brands, you don't need a primer to make the color last all day. Nars blushes, eyeshadows, and bronzers just last! Lastly, the colors ROCK on any skin tone. So your skin tone can be ivory or dark mocha and the colors just work. Um did I say how much I love Nars? LOL! Now I have previously blogged about my fascination with Nars' blushes here and the Multiple here. But Nars has other fabulous products that I must share with you Divas. Today, I want to feature Nars lip glosses. Fantastic! The lip glosses are nourishing, highly pigmented, and the colors are gorgeous. I am absolutely loving Turkish Delight. Turkish Delight is a current cult fav! It is a sheer pink gloss that is perfect layered over a neutral or nude lipstick or alone with a great lip pencil. It creates the perfect nude lip and looks great on every skin tone. Now Nars' lip glosses retail for $24 but are so worth it! Currently, Nars is offering free shipping on any purchase of $40.00 or more. So you can buy two of their beautiful lip glosses and not have to pay for shipping. Fantabulous!

Hot Drugstore Find of the Week: RoC Multi-Correxion Night Treatment

Hello Divas!

I hope your day is awesome! It is cold and overdraft here in Atlanta. I need my Starbucks fix! LOL! Yesterday Oprah's show was all about beauty, but most importantly how to take care of your skin, hair, and nails. Fantastic show! I was too excited because they talked about the importance of using three key ingredients to reverse and prevent the signs of aging. They are: Antioxidants, Retinol (Vitamin A), and Vitamin C. Dr. Oz stated that when purchasing skincare products, make sure the products contained these three ingredients. So when audience members inquired whether there were drugstore or inexpensive brands that contained these three key ingredients, I was shouting at the television "Roc Multi-Correxion Night Treatment"!!!! This product is fantabulous! It contains RoC pure Retinol. Retinol is proven to diminish wrinkles and fade away blemishes and acne. It also contains Vitamin C which rejuvenates skin tone and Antioxidants which neutralize skin-damaging free radicals. These radicals cause multiple signs of aging. I JUST purchased this product this weekend and I only paid $15.99!!! I used my CVS card and received a $3 off coupon! Whoohoo! It is new to the market, but so far I love it! I will report on the results in a few weeks. But most importantly, I want you Divas to know that you don't have to break the bank to nourish your skin!

Fun Fridays! A Visit with Christian Louboutin

Hello Divas!

I hope your Friday is just fantastic! The weather in Atlanta has been GORGEOUS all week! Today, I have a guest writer, Chamele. She went to Jeffrey's at Phipps Plaza to meet the Shoe Icon, Christian Louboutin. Unfortunately, I could not make it, but I just love her account of meeting the man in person. Check it out!

Two Fridays ago, I received Luxe Diva's post regarding the visit of Christian Louboutin. If you ever did want to see a "big girl shoe" just look for anything Louboutin. If you don't know who he is, he makes the well crafted heels with the red soles. (The red soles I had learned were his idea to help the bergere dancers who had to walk through the meat packing district.)

Let me tell you that I had just left Lenox and gotten back to my home on the East side where I had anticipated curling up on the couch with a warm beverage and ... some work. The weather was dastardly, but when I read the post I promptly whisked myself to my closet to choose an understated yet chic look in which to meet the iconic figure. I chose a black turtle neck, skinny jeans, Steve Madden booties, and a black motorcycle leather jacket. I made haste back to Buckhead, calling and texting everyone I knew who loved shoes to see if they wanted to join me for a Poet's Friday.

It was my lucky day, I found parking adjacent to the door of Saks and then practically ran to Jeffrey's. I was met by a moderate line of fashionistas from diverse backgrounds, many with champagne in hands. Well dressed ladies and men in Missoni, Versace and the like, accented with Louboutin patent leather heels and booties. Did I mention the sales associates were serving champagne? My kind of party!

Luxe Diva rang and she informed me another of her readers and friend was in attendance. Little did I know, she was the person standing in front of me in a classy tea length coat winter white coat and cognac colored boots. I introduced myself and we immediately started gabbing about fashion.

Sadly, neither of us Luxe readers owned a pair of Louboutin's. After all he was only signing shoes and nothing else. Oh, how I wished I had a pair to sign. Many individuals were purchasing shoes at the store or Saks to have signed. An individual in between myself and the other Luxe reader had purchased her first pair of Louboutin's and was kind enough to let us tag along with her to ensure we got a chance to meet him.

After almost two hours of chatting and watching excited women purchasing shoes with the patented red soles, our little group was next in line behind a velvet rope to meet the man himself. Monsieur Louboutin sat in a herringbone jacket with a white colored shirt, jeans, and lime green Chucks. "How cute?" I thought. He looked to be barely 5'5 with a gorgeous tan complexion. He smiled pleasantly for pictures and chatted with each guest with genuine interest. His assistant was at home in the atmosphere. She wore a black sleeveless sheath with sheer black stockings. She was shaking the paint pens Louboutin used to sign the shoe. There were at least 40 pens in a myriad of colors laying in a wicker basket.

When we finally met Monsieur Louboutin, he was as genuine as he looked and seemingly humble as well. He chatted with our new friend and then signed her shoe with a black pen painting lime green and white dots around the inscription. The inscription was personal and graphic. Gosh, I wished I had a shoe to sign. We each had our pictures taken and then took leave. I decided at some point I will purchase a pair and when I do, I may just have to fly myself to Paris to have them signed.

Hot Drugstore Find of the Week: RoC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Night Cream

Hello Divas!

Well I am back! I was a volunteer lawyer for the election and I slept for maybe 3 hours in a 24 hour period. I am still exhausted! But the world is beautiful and life is good! So this is a new day, but we still must take care of our skin and look gorgeous! My favorite drugstore brand Retinol cream is Roc's Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Night Cream. My skin has been a little stressed lately and I have developed a few blemishes. Retinol is a great skincare ingredient for wrinkles, blemishes, and dull skin. In the past I have used Retinol cream to even my skin tone and balance my skin. Well RoC is a great Retinol cream! It is clinicly proven to reduce wrinkles, but it will also even out your skin tone and make your skin baby smooth. I have been using this Retinol Cream on my face for a few weeks and I am very pleased. The blemishes are fading fading away. Plus my skin looks so refreshed in the morning. Most department stores or prescribed Retinol creams can be pretty expensive. I once paid $85.00 for a 1oz jar! But since RoC products can be found at your local drugstore, you can purchase this fabulous cream for only $18.00. Plus if you shop at CVS or online here, you can usually get RoC products on sale for $2-3 off retail. And if you still doubt the fabulousness of this Retinol cream, it was voted as The Best Anti-Aging Cream by Allure Magazine! Awesome!

Oatmeal Scrub: Home Beauty Product and Great Exfoliant!

Hello Divas!

I hope your day is going great! I know I missed my Hot Drugstore Find of the Week yesterday. Yikes! Why? I have been up for a couple of nights with a sick little luxe baby and by the time I get my day going, I am frantically trying to catch up with work. Well luxe baby is getting better and I will have more Hot Drugstore Finds next week. But today, I want to hip you fabulous ladies to a GREAT home beauty exfoliant: Oatmeal. Yes Oatmeal. I know you have probably heard the benefits of Oatmeal as an exfoliant before, but let me tell you why I love it!

1. Its organic. No added junk!
2. Oatmeal is effective to remove dead skin from face and body, but it is also very gentle..so it will not irritate your skin.
3. Its inexpensive. Considering the current economic turmoil, Divas have to be creative when budgeting. An 18 ounce can of Quaker oats retail for about $5. Not bad.
4. It is so easy to use Oatmeal as an exfoliant. Simply combine a scoop of oatmeal with just enough water to make a paste. Scrub on face or body and then rinse. You will notice that your skin is smooth but also soft. Plus it does not dry out your skin. Awesome!

Using oatmeal as an exfoliant in the winter is one of my favorite home based beauty regimens. What is yours? I would love to hear what natural home products you use!

Lisa Hoffman: Day Cream with SPF 15

Hello Divas!

Brrrrrr! It is so cold in Atlanta! We totally skipped fall. But I am wearing my Uggs so I guess it is okay. lol! About two months ago, my dear blogging friend, Bionic Beauty, promoted an opportunity to receive a free full size sample of Lisa Hoffman's Day Cream with SPF 15. I submitted my information for the free sample, and they contacted me and asked if I wanted to offer the same free full size sample to other friends. Well I did and I have been using it for 6 weeks now. Some friends and I were discussing the Day Cream two weeks ago and we all LOOOVE IT! Why is it so great? Well first you only have to use a small amount of the moisturizer to completely moisturize your face. Second, when you apply the cream, it instantly gives you a healthy glow. No kidding. I do not have to use foundation or bronzer. My face just glows! Lastly, the cream contains SPF 15 which is the minimum amount of SPF you need to protect your face from the sun. And you know what, it does not smell like sunscreen or feel heavy and greasy like most moisturizers that contain SPF.

Lisa Hoffman is the wife of Dustin Hoffman and created this skincare line to "simplify the beauty process, making it easier to use and convenient to carry, while providing products that represent the best ingredients that science and nature have to offer." All of the facial products come in 1 oz bottles that are spill proof and slender, so they will easily travel. I love the concept! Lisa has a day and night line of skincare products, a bath and spa collection, and frangrance. A 1 oz. bottle of the day cream retails for....gulp...$75.00...I know very very steep. But I have barely used a tenth of the cream and I know it will last for several more months. I know several of my girlfriends love it so much they are just going to bite the bullet and buy more when they run out. lol! Visit LisaHoffmanskincare.com for more information.

Lancome CILS Booster XL: Mascara Base

Hello Divas!

Happy Monday! It is sooo cold outside, but sunny and pretty! Winter is early this year. Well ladies as you probably know by now, I am on a Lancome kick! But I have always been a fan of their products. My new favorite Lancome product is the CILS Booster XL Mascara Enhancing Base. Now I am a true Defencils fan and it usually gives me very long and perfectly defined lashes. But when I apply CILS Booster first and then apply Defencils, boy you better look out! My lashes are super long, lush and thick, and perfectly defined. I so HEART this Mascara base. I also tested the power of this Mascara base on my girlfriend. She has small lashes and she told me that I could not make them long or pop. Well I applied the CILS Booster and her lashes were long and poppin! She was AMAZED. In addition, the ingredients of CILS Booster include pure Vitamin E, so it also conditions your lashes. CILS Booster retails for $20.50...yes that is a bit steep. But if you make a purchase of $35 or more of Lancome products at Make Up Makes Me Happy, you will receive a deluxe sample of CILS Booster and the award-winning eye-makeup remover Bi-Facil for free! What a deal!
