Postcard from Paris: Parisian Chic

After a full day in Paris, Hubby asked why the French women were known for their fashion.. Was it not obvious?  Well, I guess to the average American male, non.

 

I had to explain that even though every French woman wasn’t walking around in Chanel with a Hermes Kelly in her clutches, the French woman’s style is enviable because their style is effortless. Fashion and style are two different things. Fashion is oftentimes about what is trendy and of the moment, while style is something that transcends seasons, bankroll, and geography. The French woman’s style is enviable because the French woman uses every tool at her disposal to create glamour without being overdone or overtly sexy.

My Mom: The Style Icon

Mother's Day is just around the corner. For two years now I have planned on purchasing my mother a mixbook with my favorite photos of her and a line or two thanking her for the multitude of contributions she has made to my life. With less than a week to go we will have to keep our fingers crossed on the delivery. 

Another idea for a cool book is the "My Mom:The Style Icon." If you, like me, have fabulous mother and maybe one who enjoys coffee table books then you should consider purchasing the book created by writers of the blog with the same name. Fun Fridays: Fashion and Books

Several of the local Borders bookstores are going out of business, including my favorite local hotspot on Cumberland Parkway.  There are several great fashion finds  marked downto 40-60 percent off of the list prices. Titles include great coffee table books Are You a Jackie or a Marilyn?: Timeless Lessons on Love, Power, and Style  and The Gospel According to Coco Chanel: Life Lessons from the World's Most Elegant Woman. Everything including the fixtures are for sale. Unfortunately, the computers have been taken away so the sales associates are unable to search to see if a book is still in the store.
