You Are Just A Number: Albeit Jewelery Numbered Pendant Necklace at Max and Chloe

This week I had an epiphany. I am sure some of you had realized this long before I did, but somehow I missed the memo: you are but a number. Think about it, people in life reduce you to a number. You put your birth date on everything, then you get a social security number which sticks with you for the length of your life. You have a license plate with some combination of what else but numbers and letters.  When you go to the DMV you are issued a  driver's license with a number and - gasp-  your weight on it. To members of the opposite sex, you may be reduced to a phone number, or God forbid, your weight and height. If you are a CPA or JD, your firm requires a certain number of billable hours that you must meet every year in order to keep your job. Honestly, I am tired of being a number to everyone else. The problem with being reduced to a number is that quality is trumped by quantity. My bounty simply cannot be quantified. 

That said, I do have a favorite number (I know, what a hypocrite.) and perhaps you have made peace with the fact that you may be reduced to a  number or maybe you don't think of yourself as a number but you have one that represents something significant to you. Max and Chloe offer some pretty funky chains number necklaces. I HEART ATL NECKLACES!

Have you ever seen those  "I love NY" or "I love LA" shirts with the little heart between "I" and the city's name.  Max and Chloe sell  "I love NY" and "I love LA" necklaces by Zoe Chicco. One of the necklaces has a pave diamond heart on a 16 inch 14 karat gold necklace.  The other  necklace is more simple with a 1 point diamond on a 16 inch 14 karat gold necklace. I have to admit that I find the necklaces slightly annoying because I have never seen a necklace that reads "I love ATL." It is as though New York and LA are the only cool cities on the face of the United States. We know that is not true. Atlanta has big stars, good food, and a host of non-natives who move for good weather and companionship.  Plus, there is southern hospitality to boot. I was thinking, "Can we get some love in the A, please?"  I kept reading and learned you can have the necklace personalized, but only with two letters. "Well," I thought, "I guess that works." Introducing Chamele! Luxetips.com New Style Editor!

If you have noticed, the Style Chameleon is back and for the long haul. Luxe Diva and I are collaborating on some exciting endeavors for LuxeTips. I have accepted the position as the LuxeTips Style Editor and I am beyond excited to share my favorite local boutiques, online shops and styling tips with this wonderful group of fashionable divas. Luxe Diva asked that I share a bit about myself, but if you have followed me for the "Thirty to Thirty" series and if you have been reading regularly for the past couple of  weeks, you probably have deduced a good bit of information about me. I am a self-indulged Scorpio who loves to shop and style. As a visual learner, I find pleasure in the visual aesthetic of just about anything. I enjoy putting things together, be it styling clothes, decorating interiors or crafting. I especially enjoy pairing the old with the new to make fresh looks. My love for creation extends beyond fashion; I also enjoy cooking, reading, writing,  listening to music and solving puzzles. I am crafty by nature and if I am not shopping on weekends, you can find me baking cheesecakes or learning to sew.

 

Now, that was my verbal introduction, but I think I need a something that introduces me before I even have the opportunity to introduce myself.

The Style Chameleon needs a signature piece. I have scarves. I have big sunglasses, but I want a piece of jewelry that says, "ME!,as loud as Reese Witherspoon says it in Legally Blonde when she realizes that she has been picked for her summer clerkship. Of course, I found that piece that screams, "Me!" The Manya & Roumen Night Chameleon Ring  is a oxidized sterling silver chameleon. Could it be anymore poetic and cheesy? It is dark with thirty two champagne diamonds scattered across the ring. Yes, I said diamonds. Diamonds make it not so cheesy. The eyes of the chameleon are amethysts encircled by 18k gold eye bezels. Day 12: The Statement Cocktail Ring

Hello Divas!

Yesterday, I asked what were you thankful for?  Well let me tell you a few things I am thankful for: a nice home for shelter, transportation, food, clothing and shoes for myself and my kids, good health and more importantly Life.  We take this things for granted, but in other parts of the world, people do not have the basics. The basics.  So we need to be so grateful and thankful to have the basics.

While flipping through one of my favorite fashion magazines, I ran across the website Made Her Think, an online jewelry site with some edgy flavor. For the last year, the designers have had me thinking about two rings in particular. Only one is shown below but both are very similar. Constructed from brass and glass beads, the Siren Knuckle Buster  extends a half length of a finger or about 5 cm. The other knuckle buster is the same brass and glass bead construction but instead of extending vertically, that one extends horizontally across two fingers.

I rarely purchase jewelry, but these statement pieces would give edge to my somewhat romantic preppy style.  As a stylist, I find the best way to personalize your style is to add a touch of another style. For example, if you usually wear a classic preppy attire, add a little edge with some funky suede booties, and replace the regular laces with a fun grosgrain ribbon.   You break up the feeling of being too matchy-matchy or too costumey, you stretch your style, and you may even put some extra pep in your step.
