I became totally immersed in the French culture upon arrival. After years of study, I was ready to experience what 7 years of learning- including “la cuisine.” A big part of the French cuisine are the pastries which include the double-sided macaroon. The double-sided macaroon is a pastry made popular by Catherine de Medicis. Macaroons are sold all over France in fun colors and delectable flavors. One of the most popular bakeries selling macaroon is Laduree, a café and tea room with several locations throughout France. The famed spot makes thousands of macaroons daily. Laduree’s macaroons are second to none- so popular that the confectioner was used to produce pastries seen in the movie “Marie Antoinette.”
Hubby and I spent the afternoon eating macaroons at Laduree’s Champs Elysees location. After a full day of walking around the Louvre. It was a nice treat. I had the opportunity to try the newest flavor, Orange Blossom. Delish!
Until tomorrow,
Chamele
