Big News! Blogher 2010!

I have some AMAZING news to share!  I was invited to speak at the 2010 Blogher Conference in New York, August 6-7.  Yeah!

I will speak on a panel entitled "Mastering Intellectual Property Law."  Specifically, I will discuss intellectual property law, registering and protecting a trademark, copyright infringement, defamation, libel and slander.  For those of you who don't know, I am a practicing intellectual property attorney and I specialize in trademark, copyright, and legal issues in new or social media.  Yep! That is my profession. But of course, beauty is my obsession! LOL!

I have another blog entitled www.iplaw101.com and over there I discuss and explore legal issues in social media.  This blog has afforded me amazing speaking and writing opportunities.  It has been very good to me.

Hot Bargain Find of the Week: OPI's Hey! Get In Lime

Remember I told you guys about this fab and chic nail salon, Polished Beauty Lounge?  Well while there, I received a pedicure and I chose this cool and tres chic color, OPI's Hey! Get in Lime!  It is just too gorgeous. So gorgeous that I have been frantically trying to find it.  I don't think OPI discontinued this color (the horror!) anymore. However, I did find it on Amazon for about $8! Score!

Doesn't it put you in the mood for spring?  Wearing this color makes me dream of park picnics, beautiful sandals, big big shades, and gorgeous sundresses. Love!

This shade is very very similar to Chanel's Jade which was all the rage when it debuted this past fall.  However, Chanel's Jade retails for about $23 and I believe is sold out.   OPI's Hey! Get in Lime retails for $8. Not bad.

Polished Beauty Lounge: Affordable Luxe!

I hope your weekend was truly wonderful! It was a bit rainy in Atlanta, but I did get an opportunity to sleep and pamper myself a wee bit.

Yesterday, a bunch of my friends gathered at Polished Beauty Lounge to get manis/pedis and celebrate my friend Christin's impending birth.  I have been to Polished several times and I just love love this nail salon.  What I love most is the sanitary bowls, decor, and great customer service!

 

This place is so cute right?  The salon offers manicure and pedicure services; facials; and hair removal services.  There are also tons of cute accessories for purchase.  These accessories include funky jewelry, special undergarments, and foot petals!  The staff is super friendly and efficient.  I have had their basic pedicure, the Stylish ($24) and the Barefoot at the Beach to Island Goddess pedicure.  Both are great, but the Barefoot at the Beach to Island Goddess Pedicure is heavenly.  It includes a papaya healing exfoliation scrub or lavender soothing sea salt scrub.  This is followed by a rejuvenating mineral mask for the feet and moisturizing peach paraffin for the hands.  It is finished off with hot towels and a relaxing massage. It is only $35 and worth every penny!

Hot Drugstore Find of the Week: Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub

Divas I have sad news.  The absolute best drugstore face exfoliating wash is no longer being sold in the U.S. Yes it is true.  Lumene's Artic Touch Clarifying Mineral Scrub is no longer offered in the U.S.  It has been my go to product when I need to get rid of guck and reveal clean and healthy beautiful skin.  So I have been desperately searching for an alternative and picked up Neutrogena's Deep Clean Gentle Scrub.  This scrub contains microbeads that gently exfoliate and Beta Hydroxy to deep clean pores.

The cleanser is definitely not Lumene, but it does a pretty decent job.  The microbeads are small enough to not cause skin irritation and large enough to exfoliate pretty nicely.  It does not give a deep cleaning exfoliation, but it is enough to remove some dead skin.  The cleanser also cleans pretty well and my skin feels very clean but not dry.  It actually feels pretty smooth and soft.  What I really love about this cleanser is that it does not cause my skin to break out.  I have to be so careful when using products on my face.  One wrong move and my face will break out something fierce.

Lancome at the Golden Globes!

I am back!  How was your MLK Weekend? Mine? I cleaned, got some work done, and chilled at home.  It was productive and relaxing.

Well last night was the Golden Globes and Lancôme represented well.  My favorite look of the night was Lancôme Ambassador, Kate Winslet's make-up. Talk about classic beauty!  Her look was natural and simply flawless! She was simply glowing.  Celebrity make-up artist, Jillian Dempsey, used several Lancôme products to complete Kate's look.  She used the wildly popular Lancôme Hypnôse Mascara in Excessive Black on Kate's lashes.  And Kate's nude matte lips were to die for!  Jillian created Kate's nude matte look with Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge lip pencil in Rich Cashmere.  I am perusing their website right now to find this pencil in a shade that will compliment my skin tone. I have to have it! LOL!

Plus Kate looked stunning in that figure hugging Yves Saint Laurent gown. Loved it!  Kate has real curves and is not afraid to show it.  She represents what real women look like and kudos to her! Go Kate!

A Fight for Life: Haiti!

Usually it is Fun Fridays and I was going to gush about NARS new duo eye shadows but I have to urge all of my readers and visitors to fight for Haiti.  As you know, the country suffered a devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake and the country's infrastructure has been completely devastated.  Tens and maybe hundreds of thousands of lives have been lost and the hospitals are either destroyed or the few left are operating at full capacity.  We have all seen the images of children either dead or wandering the streets looking for their parents.  Devastating.

Haiti needs our help.  We have to do what we can to help this country that needs us so desperately.  Donate money, food, water, clothing, shoes whatever you can afford and in your budget.  Even if you can only donate $1, that is fine.  If 1 million people donate $1 that is 1 million dollars.  These dollars can get the medicine, food, water and resources needed to get Haiti through this devastating time.

There are several reputable organizations you can donate to that are providing immediate relief to Haiti.  They are:

Hot Drugstore Find of the Week: Milani Glitzy Glamour Gloss in Lady Like

I have always heard great things about Milani Cosmetics.  Milani is a drugstore cosmetics line that features deep pigmented colors that works for all skin tones.  What I have noticed about the line is that the colors seem to work fantastic on women of color.  I had never tried any of their products until a friend of mine purchased a tube of the Glitzy Glamour Gloss.  I was intrigued by the tube's shape and color of the gloss.  So while in CVS this weekend, I decided to finally give it a try.  I chose the Lady Like shade because it is a bronze gloss with a hint of peach.  Love it!

The first thing I noticed about the gloss is it has a rich caramel smell.  I love lip products that smell good! Yummy!  The color is very pigmented and is very true when applied to your lips.  The gloss glides on smoothly, but I didn't particularly like the thickness of the gloss.  The color is beautiful, but the shine is very subdued almost matte.

But I received tons of compliments on the color.  It is pretty and looks gorgeous on my skin tone. 

Milani Glitzy Glamour gloss comes in 10 shades so there is a color that will look good on ANY skin tone.  The gloss retails for $6.49 and you can purchase it any CVS.

Fun Fridays! Introducing Lancôme’s Spring 2010 Color Collection

How was your week?  I hope fabulous!  It is snowing in Atlanta...although lightly, the city will probably shut down. Hilarious!

Well my favorite luxe beauty brand has done it again.  Lancôme’s has just released their Spring 2010 color collection, entitled,  Ô My Rose.  This collection includes corals, peaches, and teal greens. I am already salivating. This color combination is INSANE!


I am particularly fascinated with the Pop n’ Cheeks blush in Coral Flirt.  It is a peachy blush with hints of gold.  As you know and I can attest, peach blush or bronzer looks AMAZING on brown skin! 

Also I can't wait to get my hands on the Ink Artliner, gel eyeliner in Teal Delight! I love green eyeshadow and this color will look gorgeous on anyone! I know it! I have several Lancome Artliner, gel eyeliners, and they are the best!  They glide on so smoothly and the colors are intense and have wonderful staying power.

Plus the collection includes Le Crayon Khol Waterproof eyeliner in a brownish gold color, entitled Brun Tease and a Teal Color, entitled Teal Kiss.


And Lancome has the best eyeshadows.  Their Color Design eyeshadow quads are fantastic!  The color combinations are perfect.  I particularly love this one. 

This collections has rich corals, peaches, and gold lip colors to complete the look.

CO Bigelow's My Favorite Lip Balm

Boy it is so cooold outside! How are you keeping warm? I am literally freezing! Whew!

Extreme cold weather makes our skin very dry.  During the winter months,  my lips become extremely dry and chapped.  But I have been using this new CO Bigelow Lip Balm that I received as a Christmas gift and it is just fabulous! It is called "My Favorite Lip Balm" and it contains Shea Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, and Wheat Germ Oil. The balm glides on super smooth and it has a nice Sweet Almond smell. The shine is super insane and it looks awesome with my MAC Chesnut lip pencil.  This balm has been a life saver during this cold snap.  My lips stay moist and moisturized all day.
