Hello Divas!
I am so excited about the three day weekend! However it will be busy but with fun stuff. My son has a birthday party to attend at Chuck E. Cheese. He loves Chuck E. Cheese. Plus the pizza is good! Yum! And of course I plan on doing some beauty and thrift shopping. Yipee! This leads me to inform you wonderful people of a few great sales and events going on this Labor Day weekend. First, my favorite thrift store, The Junior League of Atlanta's Nearly New Shop, is having a 50% off sale on EVERYTHING, Labor Day, Monday, September 1. Check it out here. You can find gently used fall items like cashmere sweaters, fitted blazers, and pencil skirts. Also, CVS is currently having a sale on all Revlon products. The sale is buy one get one free! This sale ends on Saturday, August 30. Lastly, I found out about this sweet event from a fellow twitter Micheal King. Ikea is offering free breakfast all Labor Day Weekend for its customers! I hear it is pretty good. What a great way to get us to shop. I do need another rug and some throw pillows!
Have a great Holiday weekend!

Susan Posnick Color Correct Dual Brightening/Concealer Pencil
Hello Divas!
One more day until the 3 day weekend! Whoohoo! I wanted to tell you ladies about a truly fabulous mineral make-up line, Susan Posnick. I love Susan Posnick's mineral make-up because regardless of your skin tone, you WILL find a foundation that will complement your skin tone. So you can be Cafe Au Lait or Expresso and their shades will work for you! As we all know mineral make up does not contain any harmful ingredients, i.e., artificial fragrances, colors and preservatives.
It also contains ingredients that protect your skin from sun damage. Plus it makes your skin look amazing! Well while at the spa party, the make-up artist introduced me to the Susan Posnick Dual Brightening/Concealer Pencil. This pencil contains a brightener on one end to lighten the under eye and corner eye area and a concealer to cover blemishes. You get two products in one! Fabulous. She applied the brightener to my under eye area and my dark circles were gone. She then used the concealer to even out my skin tone where I had a few blemishes. Perfect. The pencil is so creamy it just glides on like silk. I love it! And this pencil only retails for $22.00! Visit Susan Posnick's website here to view their great range of foundation shades and to purchase this pencil!

Hot Drugstore Find of the Week: Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick
Hello Divas!
I hope your week is just wonderful! My hot drugstore find of the week is Revlon's Super Lustrous Lipstick. Now I was an avid fan of this lipstick while in college. Back then it was $6 a tube and I thought that was a grip. lol! Now I may spend $20 on a lipstick. Funny how things change. But Revlon always makes great lipsticks. The colors are awesome and their Super Lustrous lipstick is packed with moisturizers and vitamin E to keep your lips silky smooth and moist all day long. It truly feels decadent.
While in CVS, I discovered that Revlon is currently having a sale on all of their products, buy one get one free. I usually purchase a nice dark burgandy Revlon lipstick called Black Cherry for fall. So I snapped up the Black Cherry lipstick and discovered Revlon had a selection of nude lipsticks. I had been looking for a nice nude lipstick that will compliment my skintone. Well after studying several shades, I chose a pearl in Caramel Glace. Caramel Glace is a nice nude with a hint of rose. I apply my MAC Chesnut lip liner and the Caramel Glace over it, and I have the perfect nude lip for fall. I love this lipstick! And the best part is I can rock two fab fall trends (nude and dark lips) for the low low price of $7.99. Yes, I got both lipsticks for only $8.00. How many ways can I say I looooove CVS! The sale on all Revlon products is going on now. It is in store only. The sale will end this Saturday, August 30.

Beauty Etiquette: Tipping for Beauty Servies
Hello Divas!
I hope you are having an awesome day! I attended a Bridal Shower at a spa this weekend and it was pretty nice. However, my friends and I had a discussion about what is the appropriate tip to give to your service provider when receiving beauty services. These services include hair care, spa treatments, threading, waxing, and nail services. As a general rule, when receiving beauty services the standard tip is 20%. Especially if the service is excellent and you have no complaints. Also if you are a frequent visitor to the salon or spa, giving a standard 20% tip builds good will and perks. So if need to be squeezed in for an appointment, the salon or spa is more likely to fit you in.
In addition, your masseuse may give you an extra 5-10 minutes on a massage if you regularly tip 20%. Some people like to leave 18%, which is not standard, but a salon or spa should not put you on the black list for it! lol! Now if the service was just okay or border line so-so, I would tip 15%. No need to tip 20% if you are not thrilled with the service. If you are totally unhappy with the service, then tip 10%. This is generally my rule when tipping. I just hate to not leave anything, even though I am not happy. I figure if I leave 10%, then the service provider knows that I am not happy with the service. However, it is also acceptable not to leave any tip if you are totally unhappy. Just let the owner or manager of the salon or spa know why you are unhappy and did not leave a tip. Lastly, if you are not sure about what amount is appropriate when tipping, discreetly ask the owner or manager of the spa or salon. This will save both you and the beauty establishment awkwardness and embarrassment.

Jeans: Several variations of a Classic
Hello Divas!
I hope this week has been great! At a recent girlfriend gathering, we started discussing jeans and the different types and fits. One of my girlfriends wanted to know what was the difference between boot cut and straight leg jeans. Well we both thought that this would be a great post. Check out some popular jean styles below. What are your favorites?
1. Skinny Jeans. My all time favorite. Do you guys remember Jordache Jeans back in the 80s. The first skinny jeans.
As a little girl, I coveted them then and I still think they are the best skinny jeans on the market. I wear mine all the time and get so many compliments. Plus they only retail for about $80.00. Considering the high price of jeans today, this is a bargain! Skinny Jeans fit snug to your body all the way down to your ankles. They look great with heels, flats, and of course you can easily tuck them into boots! Pair them with a fitted jacket, chunky sweater, or billowy top.
2. Straight Leg. Straight leg jeans have a straight narrow leg but do not flare at the ankle nor do they fit snug to the ankle.
I call these the classic jean cut. I like to wear these jeans with high heeled sandals or pumps. I am not fond of them with flats..the jeans usually drag on the ground or with boots....it takes too much work to put them in the boot. Wear them with a jacket for a more casual look or with an embellished top for a night out on the town.
3. Boot cut.
Boot cut jeans fit straight and narrow throughout the leg but they slightly flare at the bottom to make room for boots. When I was in college, I was a huge fan of boot cut jeans. We all used to wear those chunky ankle boots back then. Now I want to show my boots off because they are too fabulous! So I have given up on the boot cut. But they are still a classic. Pair these jeans with a cardigan or a fitted sweater.
4. Trousers. I love love these jeans.
They actually look like trousers but are denim. I feel very comfortable wearing these to work. I pair them with a great pair of pumps and blazer and I am office ready.
5. Wide Leg. Of course I had to mention one of Fall's hottest trends, the wide leg jeans. I love the look of this style!
So funky! You can pair these jeans with platforms and a cropped jacket or sweater. Hot!

Hot Drugstore Find of the Week: Affordable Make-Up Brushes, Essence of Beauty
Hello Divas!
I hope your hump day is rocking and rolling. My hot drugstore find of the week is Essence of Beauty Make-Up Brushes. I have been using these make-up brushes for the past...um..lets see..8 years. Yes 8 years! They are fantastic!
Why am I just writing about these fabulous brushes? Well I was perusing the MAC counter and inquired about the price of the 217 blending eyeshadow brush and the 252 large shader brush. I figured if all my favorite beauty bloggers and my own MAC make-up artist use these brushes, so should I. Well the 217 brush is $22.50 and the 252 brush is a whopping $29.00. Now MAC does make the bomb diggity brushes but that is a lot of money to spend on a brush. I know some of my readers simply can not afford it or just don't want to spend that much on an eyeshadow brush. So I thought why not hip you guys to my all time favorite inexpensive but high quality make-up brushes. Essence of Beauty Make-Up Brushes are made of high quality authentic hairs and fibers and work beautifully. I have the eye shadow blending brush, dome eyeshadow brush, lip brush, and stand-up face powder brush. My favorite is the stand-up face powder brush. It is a big fluffy brush and I use it to apply blush to the apples of my cheek and bronzer. It applies make-up perfectly. In addition, the eyeshadow blending brush blends great and the dome eyeshadow brush allows you to really pack eyeshadow on your lids. The lip brush is retractable which is always a plus. And of course you can purchase these brushes at your local CVS or here online. They retail for.....$4.99 a piece! Can you believe it??!! Quality and affordable, Fantastic!

Aquolina: Pink Sugar Frangrance
Hello Divas!
I hope your Monday is awesome! I am currently in love with Aquolina's Pink Sugar Perfume. Why is this frangrance so great? Well of course it smells fantastic!
This frangrance fuses two of my favorite smells, vanilla and caramel. It actually smells like a light vanilla chocolate. I love any body butter, body spray, lotion, lip gloss, etc. that smells like chocolate. It just mixes well with my body chemistry. I am so glad I found this frangrance line because Bath & Body Works stopped selling my fav chocolate body souffle, Tutti Dolci Chocolate, and I have been heart broken. When I wear this scent, I smell so yummy! My husband says that I smell like candy as he tries to ravish me. lol! 1 oz of Eau de Toilette Spray retails for $28.00 at Sephora. Its is romantic yet light. Try it ladies. I think you will like it too!

Napoleon Perdis Long Black Mascara: My Review
Hello Divas!
I am ready for the weekend how about you? Of course I have another Napoleon Perdis product review considering the awesome sale Sephora is currently having on all Napoleon Perdis products. Read about the sale here. I have been using Napoleon Perdis's Long Black Mascara and I like it.
I am not in love with it, but it is pretty good. The best thing about this Mascara is that it has a naturally bent wand that is like a built in lash curler. I do not have to curl my lashes at all. This wand definitely does the trick! Also this wand is very effective in reaching those little tiny hard to reach lashes. It is a pretty decent lengthening Mascara. After applying two coats my lashes were definitely nice and long. It also thickens pretty well too. It is not the best separating Mascara, but for long thick lashes it is perfect. It has an anti-irritant in the formula for sensitive eyes, which I really like. It also contains allantoin, candellila wax, beeswax and collagen, so it conditions your lashes very nicely. This Mascara regularly retails for $22, but due to the Sephora sale, you can purchase it online here for only....$5.50! Hurry up ladies, the sale lasts until all Napoleon Perdis products are gone gone gone!

Hot Drugstore Find of the Week: Wet N' Wild's Wild Shine Nail Polish in Lavender Creme
Hello Divas!
I hope your week is going great! My hot drugstore find of the week is Wet n' Wild's Wild Shine Nail Polish in Lavender Creme.
Lavender Creme is a gorgeous hot pink color and it looks great on my toes! I must confess that I am not the one to do my own mani/pedi. However, I was inspired by Mischo of Mischo Beauty to give it a try. Mischo is a licensed cosmetologist, an esthetician, and a chemist! She is just too fab! Her blog focuses on the proper care of hair, skin, and nails. She always features nail polish in beautiful colors. Check out one of my favs here. I decided to give myself a pedicure and I went to CVS to check out nail polish. I chose Wet n' Wild because it is so affordable. I brought this polish for only 99 cents! So if I did not like it, I would not feel like I wasted any money. I was also motivated by the fact that this nail polish is toluene, formaldehyde & phthalate free! I applied two coats and Wet n' Wild's MegaLast Quick Dry Ultra Gloss Top Coat, and my toes are just too pretty. I have been wearing this color for a week and I have not experienced any chipping. I love it! Wet n' Wild has several beautiful colors to choose from. The top coat retails for $1.99. You can purchase Wet n' Wild at CVS or online here.

Napoleon Perdis Luminizer Bronzer: My Review
Hello Divas!
I hope today is an awesome day! I am in loooove with Napoleon Perdis's Luminizer Bronzer Foundation Stick. Can I just say fantabulous?!! So I am in Sephora last Friday and all of the Napoleon Perdis Products are 50% off. Yes 50% off! Apparently Sephora is not carrying the line anymore. Of course I lost my mind. I asked the salesperson what were the must have products from Napoleon Perdis. The salesperson said definitely the Luminizer Bronzer.
He then went on to tell me that this product looks great on everyone, but as far as he is concerned it is the BEST bronzer for brown skin. So of course I am intrigued. He put it on and ladies I promise you, I looked like a movie star. Seriously. He applied it at the top of my cheekbones, the middle of my forehead, on on my chin. I was just glowing glowing glowing. I did not have any foundation and I looked radiant. He also said that you can mix a little of this bronzer with your foundation or moisturizer for an all over glow. Plus I just love the texture of this bronzer. It is packaged as a foundation stick and it is silky smooth; so easy to apply. It is a deep shimmering bronze color and I love it! Ladies this is THE MUST HAVE bronzer for fall/winter. During these months we all lose our fabulous tans and get that dull look. This bronzer will have you glowing all winter long. I promise. And ladies RUN to your nearest Sephora or immediately go to Sephora.com to purchase this item and other Napoleon Perdis products. Currently, all Napoleon Perdis products are 75% off at Sephora!!! This bronzer is currently selling for $9.75. It originally sells for $40.00!

Fun Friday: Purple Eyeshadow Rocks!
Hello Divas!
I hope this day is fantastic! Since, I did not do a post yesterday, (can I just say hectic!) today you get two posts. I have been wearing purple eyeshadow for a few days now, and I have received the most compliments on this look than any other look I have rocked. Seriously. And ladies, I must admit the purple eyeshadow idea came from no other than Scandalous Beauty. This beauty website features great beauty tips and video tutorials on how to apply make up. Erin is a professional make up artist and I just love her recommendations on using the proper brushes.
Just fabulous! Well, I viewed her tutorial on how to apply purple eyeshadow and I did the steps verbatim and now I am a hot rocking mama! Check it out here. The purple eyeshadow I have been rocking is Charismaby Loreal Hip. It is a two shadow duo and I have been using the dark purple color. It retails for $6.99 and you can purchase it at CVS or online here. Try this look Divas! I know you will love it too!

I Heart Make-Up Bags
Hello Divas!
I am glad today is Friday. How about you? What a week! Well I was cleaning and organizing my beauty closet...which is actually all the space underneath my bathroom sink, (lol!) and I realized that I had a stash of make up bags. Now if you are a make up junkie like me, you know that carrying a make up bag is ESSENTIAL. I have make up bags in different sizes, textures, and colors. Basically, I have a make up bag to suit every occassion and fancy!
Right now I am rocking my small and compact leather Helena Rubinstein make-up bag I received as a gift with purchase in 2000! Obviously well made and just too fab! I use this make up bag when I do not want my make up bag to take up too much space in my purse. I also have a red suede Chanel make up bag I received as a gift when purchasing my Chanel No. 5 perfume collection.
I just love the texture and the bright red color is so fashionable. I carry this make-up bag when I am rocking my hobo shoulder bag. I also received this too fabulous make up bag/clutch from Mac when purchasing a set of make up brushes. I actually pair this clutch with a cool short summer frock when going out on the town. Too cute! And ladies in tribute to the make-up bag, I have included several bags in different price ranges and styles for your viewing pleasure.

Hot Drugstore Find of the Week: Oil of Olay Total Effects Anti-Aging Anti-Blemish Skin Care
Hello Divas!
I hope your Wednesday is awesome! My hot drugstore find of the week is Oil of Olay's Total Effects Anti-Aging Anti-Blemish Skin Care System. I started using this system a couple of years ago. My skin was just awful. I was not eating right and was stressed out, so I had major break outs and hyper pigmentation. I was looking for an affordable skin care system that could effectively deal with these skin issues. I heard great things about Total Effects Anti-Aging Anti-Blemish skin care line and gave it a try.
I purchased the Total Effects Anti-Aging Anti-Blemish Daily Cleanser and the Total Effects Daily Moisturizer, and within 14 days my skin was CLEARLY 50% better. The breakouts had ceased and the hyper pigmentation was fading away! I continued to use the system as directed, and within a month my skin was back to normal. I LOVE THIS LINE! The Total Effects Line contains 7 anti-aging therapies that work together to produce beautiful blemish and wrinkle free skin. These 7 therapies are: Line Minimization; Nourishing Moisturization; Tone Enhancement; Gentle Exfoliation; Pore Refinement; and Subtle Lifting. Sounds fabulous right? This skin care system has been my skin regimen until recently. In December, I started using Dr. Susan Taylor's RX for Brown Skin (read my review here) because I heard rave reviews about her skin care line designed for women of color. So far so good! However, Oil of Olay's Total Effects Anti-Aging Anti-Blemish skin care system is tried and true. The cleanser retails for $7.49 and the moisturizer retails for $19.38! Great Prices! But you can always pay less at my fav drugstore CVS. They will occasionally have a sale on these items, usually $2-$3 off. Also you can check your Sunday paper because Oil of Olay always offers coupons on their products! And you can purchase this skin care system online here.

L'Occitane Hand Creme = Beautiful Hands
Hello Divas!
I hope all is fantastic! L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream is my next gush!
It is the best! I have been using this hand creme for a year now and I can truly say no other hand cream can get my hands as hydrated, smooth and soft. I wash my hands a LOT....washing dishes, changing diapers, sharing common spaces with co-workers, I really can't wash them enough. lol! So of course my hands are always dry. I massage a nickel size amount of this cream onto my hands and it instantly absorbs into my skin. My hands are non-greasy and so so soft. This hand cream is made with Shea Butter, Vitamin E, honey, and sweet almond extract. Now I must be honest. I don't particularly care for the smell of this hand cream, but it is so great I tolerate it. But fortunately, L'Occitane has a Cherry Blossom and Lavender Hand Cream. These creams have beautiful smells and they contain the same amount of Shea Butter and Vitamin E as the orginal. I always buy the mini hand cream. It is 1 fl. oz., so it fits perfectly in my make-up bag and travels easily on a flight. The mini hand cream retails for only $10.00 and you can purchase it at any L'Occitane Store or at Sephora or here at Sephora.com

Urban Decay's Baked: Love this gloss!
Hello Divas!
I hope your Monday started off with a bang! Today I must gush about one of my absolute favorite lip glosses. Urban Decay's XXX Shine Lip Gloss in Baked.
I learned about this lip gloss in 2003 when I got a makeover at Sephora in preparation for a charity ball. The make-up artist used Baked on my lips and I was instantly in love. It is a beautiful bronze color with flecks of gold. The color is so rich, I only need to use a little bit of lip pencil when applying. Plus, the gloss is super shiny, so your lips will look fantastic all day long. And as an added bonus, the lip gloss is minty so your lips will tingle and your breath will smell fresh! This lip gloss looks great on ALL skin tones. It retails for $16.00. You can purchase Urban Decay's Baked at Sephora or Sephora.com.

Fun Friday: Vogue Italia and other tidbits
Hello Divas!
Its the weekend baby! Whoohoo! Today I am doing something a little different. Instead of discussing my latest beauty find, I am going to talk about miscellaneous fun stuff.
For example, check out this cool interview by Blaq Vixen Beauty featuring little ole me here. Also, I have officially obtained one of the original prints of the Vogue Italia All Black Issue July 08. I have the "RED" cover featuring Ethiopian-born bombshell Liya Kebede. I went through a WHOLE LOT to get this issue. All the Barnes & Nobles in Atlanta only received....drumroll please....10 copies total! Can you imagine. I was like one of 500 people vying for one of the 10 copies. Borders did not get it at all! A fellow twittian on Twitter, saw my posts looking for the issue and she sent me her extra copy. If you are looking for gorgeous designer discounted lingerie check out her site at www.knickersblog.com/bargains. Gotta love Twitter! Well this copy is being packed away. I am saving it for my daughter...when she becomes a little older. However, I am getting a copy of the reprints Vogue Italia recently distributed and this will sit on my coffee table. So excited!
Have a Great Weekend! Toodles!
